Stop Guessing With Your Supplements!

Advanced Nutrient Deficiency Testing -
Lymphocyte Proliferation Micronutrient Panel, explained...

Are you taking several supplements, wondering if they're actually working? Many of us invest in high-quality vitamins and minerals based on what we've heard is "good for us," without knowing what our bodies truly need. In this educational conversation, Dr. Paul reveals how micronutrient testing can take the guesswork out of supplementation, knowing exactly which nutrients your body is deficient in and which ones you might be wasting money on.

Q & A: Your Essential Guide to Micronutrient Testing

Question: I'm already taking high-quality supplements. Do I really need micronutrient testing?

Dr. Paul: "While high-quality supplements are unlikely to harm you, the real question is whether your body actually needs those specific nutrients. Many patients come to me taking supplements because they heard 'vitamin C is good for immunity or B12 is good for energy.' But without testing, it's all guesswork. If you're not deficient in B12 and you're taking it, you won't see the same results as someone who is actually deficient. Leveraging important testing, including the Micronutrient Test, helps us graduate from guessing to knowing!"

Question: How does gut health affect vitamin and mineral absorption?

Dr. Paul: "Every cell in your body needs nutrients to heal and function properly. If you're not digesting food well or absorbing nutrients effectively, you can develop nutritional deficiencies even if you're eating a healthy diet. For example, skin cells need vitamin C and copper for collagen synthesis, also biotin, niacin, vitamin A, vitamin C, copper, omega 3 fatty acids... while gut cells need vitamin A, zinc, glycine, and glutamine to heal. Poor gut health can create a cascade effect where you're not getting the nutrients your body needs for basic healing processes."

Question: What makes micronutrient testing different from regular blood tests?

Dr. Paul: "We use lymphocyte proliferation testing, which looks inside white blood cells to assess 55 different nutrients. The advantage is that lymphocytes live for a long time, giving us a 4-6 month window of your nutritional status. Regular serum blood tests only show you a snapshot—maybe a few days or weeks of information. This longer timeframe helps us understand chronic deficiencies, not just what you ate yesterday."

Question: What are the signs of severe nutritional deficiencies?

Dr. Paul: "Symptoms can vary. The most severe case I've seen had 30 nutritional deficiencies out of 55 nutrients tested. In this particular patient, the most prominent symptoms were:
-Fatigue
-Brain fog
-Acid reflux/digestive issues
-Frequent illness
-Difficulty sleeping
-Dermatitis (inflammation of the skin)

But remember, when you have that many deficiencies, multiple body systems aren't functioning optimally because cells lack the basic building blocks they need, so your symptoms can vary.

Below you'll find a more thorough list of possible symptoms associated with nutritional deficiencies.

Question: Is there a connection between food sensitivities and nutritional deficiencies?

"Yes, and the connection usually involves leaky gut. When the intestinal barrier is compromised, larger food proteins and microbes can leak into the bloodstream, causing inflammation and food sensitivities. At the same time, this damaged gut barrier prevents proper nutrient absorption. It becomes a vicious cycle—you develop more food sensitivities AND more nutritional deficiencies.  That's why identifying the root cause is crucial, whether it's chronic stress, dysbiosis, illness, medication, poor sleep, etc."

Question: Once I know my deficiencies, how do I know what form and dose of supplements to take?

"This is where professional guidance becomes invaluable. Take B12, for example—there are multiple forms, and the questions multiply: How much? Which form? With or without food? How long should you take it? The same goes for vitamin C and magnesium, which come in numerous forms. Our testing allows us to create an individualized protocol that answers all these questions based on your specific deficiencies and health status.

Question:  What makes your approach to nutritional testing and gut health successful?

"Our success with patients comes from three key factors:

1. Comprehensive testing...we don't just run one test. That over-stuffed/gassy feeling, for instance, could stem from bacterial overgrowth, parasites, low stomach acid, food sensitivities, chronic stress, etc. Looking at multiple angles gives us the complete picture.

2. **Clear Communication:** We educate patients throughout the process, review test results together, and map out each stage of the protocol so you understand exactly what we're doing and why.

3. **Consistent Follow-up:** Regular check-ins keep you on track and allow us to adjust protocols based on your progress. It's this combination of thorough testing, understanding the mechanisms, and maintaining consistency that delivers the best results."

"What can I expect in working with Restorative Health Solutions?"

At Restorative Health Solutions, we strive to get to the root cause of the symptoms/condition and help patients reach their optimal health. We also guarantee to replace the 'one-size-fits-all' approach with a personalized plan for you!

How we dramatically lower the recurrence of your symptoms:

1. Our comprehensive initial assessment with you.

2.  We take the time to educate you on what's really going on, instead of leaving you in the dark like many other clinics can do. We want to help you be dependent and take back control of your health!

3. State-of-the-art testing used strategically, to eliminate the guessing and finally get to the root cause of your symptoms.

4. Our functional medicine and functional neurology combination approach, is comprehensive and gets to the root cause(s) of the problem. The result of this approach is that our patients have a better chance at being healthier long-term with much lower recurrence rates of the problem. For example, we find that SIBO patients that do not work with our clinic, experience about a 70% avg. recurrence rate.  With our approach we have seen less than 10% of our SIBO patients at RHS have their symptoms return after the initial symptom-free timeframe!

If you or a loved one are having any strange GI symptoms, or interested in getting a thorough and complete work-up, we’d be happy to help. Please don't hesitate to ask questions or to get a second opinion.

We look forward to helping you Restore Your Gut Health, and your quality of life!

Sincerely,
